Jammu and Kashmir approved 10 new Degree colleges

The Jammu and Kashmir State Administrative Council (SAC) on Thursday declared the establishment of 10 new degree colleges during the period of 2019-21 along with upgrading of 228 colleges, that also got approved by SAC during the meeting held headed underneath the Governor Satya Pal Malik.

A spokesperson from the meeting declared that the new colleges are going to be established in Tulail (Bandipora), Boniyar (Baramulla), Soibugh (Budgam), Kastigarh (Doda), Jourian (Jammu), girls’ school, Bhagwati Nagar (Jammu) Kralpora (Kupwara), Dharhal (Rajouri), Ghagwal (Samba) and Mongri-Panchari at Kainth Gali (Udhampur) during the period of 2019-21. A committee was also formed so as to investigate the necessities of the recently established colleges in accordance with the various locations. The committee was headed by Principal Secretary Finance, also, the committee witnessed the presence of administrative Secretaries of designing, higher education and school Education Departments.

Earlier, once the committee created varied recommendations relating to the situation for the planned institution of degree colleges, the SAC approved locations for establishment of forty new degree colleges.“Continuing with its mandate, the committee after considering requests for brand new colleges received by the upper Education Department created recommendations for opening new degree colleges in locations that embody far-flung, underserved and backward areas of the state like Tulail, Kralpora, Dharhal and Mongri besides a girls degree college in Bhagwati Nagar Jammu. 
 
“With the institution of ten new colleges, the scholars will have quick access to education within their areas. altogether the Governors administration has approved fifty Degree colleges to date,” he said. The representative added that as far as the upgradation of colleges is bothered, he informed that eighty-seven High-schools have already been upgraded which incorporates forty-two in Jammu region and forty-five in Kashmir region.

Also, it’s been informed that 123 Middle schools are upgraded which has fifty-eight in Jammu region and sixty-five within the Kashmir region. 
The representative also informed that according to the centrally sponsored theme of Samagra Shiksha, SAC conjointly approved the upgradation of eighteen colleges. Out of them, twelve are Middle schools that are upgraded to High-schools, and 6 High-schools are upgraded to Higher-Secondary schools, that includes three in Jammu region and three in Kashmir region. 
 
The Council has also been reported to possess approved the upgradation of government Lower highschool, Mallan Dessa Tehsil Bhagwah District Doda to highschool, he added. It has been reported that SAC additionally schooled the Education Department (School) to conduct or prepare a report informing varied ways to consolidate schools and rationalize the staff in states where schools witness low Pupil-Teacher ratio (PTR) as compared with the common PTR.
